Minimum Pay Rate: $43,600.71 (Pay Grade 105)

General Summary:

The Health & Natural Sciences Clinical/Lab Coordinator supports the effective delivery of Allied Health, Nursing, and Science programs by enhancing student learning experiences in laboratory and clinical settings. This position serves as a vital partner to faculty by assisting with skills instruction and competency assessments, coordinating clinical placements, maintaining relationships with community partners, and supporting laboratory operations. The coordinator helps ensure that students receive timely, high-quality instruction and evaluation while promoting efficient program operations and compliance with clinical and laboratory standards. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Examples of duties performed by this position include: 

Clinical & Skills Lab Support 

  • Provide one-on-one or small group guidance to students practicing clinical skills during lab sessions.
  • Serve as a second evaluator during skills assessments to reduce faculty workload and improve student access to instruction.
  • Support nursing lab sessions as a second RN when needed to ensure continuity of instruction. 

Clinical Coordination & Site Management 

  • Coordinate nursing clinical rotations, including group assignments, scheduling, and communication.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the college and clinical sites.
  • Conduct annual site visits during nursing clinical rotations to:  
    • Evaluate site appropriateness
    • Assess student performance
    • Address site needs, concerns, and feedback  
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community healthcare partners.
  • Assist in securing clinical placements and coordinating faculty coverage for clinical groups.

Student Compliance & Documentation

  • Support the collection, organization, and submission of required student documentation for clinical placement, including:  
    • Immunization records 
    • CPR certification
    • Background checks  
    • Drug screening results
  • Ensure all documentation meets facility-specific requirements and deadlines.  

Program & Faculty Support

  • Reduce administrative burden on faculty and leadership by centralizing clinical coordination tasks.
  • Facilitate communication among faculty, adjunct instructors, students, and clinical partners.
  • Provide on-site support and visibility during clinical rotations to address real-time needs. 
  • Support adjunct faculty engagement by serving as a consistent point of contact.
  • Actively participate in committee work as assigned. 

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in nursing.
  2. Three (3) years of relevant work experience in nursing practice.
  3. Registered Nurse (RN) with current Michigan licensure.
  4. Valid driver’s license without restrictions and a safe driving record.
  5. Available to work evenings/weekends when required.
  6. Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Three (3) years of relevant work experience in nursing education.
