Whether you're brand new to motorcycles or looking to sharpen your skills, Glen Oaks Community College offers state-certified training that gets you road-ready. With Basic and Experienced Rider Courses available, our program is designed for all experience levels. All courses meet Michigan Department of State (MDOS) standards and are taught by Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF)-certified instructors. Upon completion, you'll be eligible to earn your motorcycle endorsement without the need to take additional tests at the Secretary of State.
Basic Rider Course (BRC)
Perfect for first-time riders. Learn the fundamentals of motorcycle operation, safety techniques, and traffic strategies. Includes classroom instruction, on-cycle training, and a written knowledge test.
Available from April to August.
Basic Rider Course 2 (BRC2)
Ideal for experienced riders looking to refresh their skills, ride with more precision, or earn their endorsement. Students bring their own motorcycle and riding gear.
Tailored for experienced riders.

Mandatory eCourse
All students must complete a free online eCourse through the MSF before their first day of class.

Motorcycle Safety: Need To Know
Registration Details
- Method: Online only. No in-person, mail, or alternative registration methods are accepted.
- Fee: $50 (non-refundable - includes test). We do not accept cash, checks, or money orders.
- First-Come, First-Serve: Space is limited to 8 participants per class. No waiting list is available.

Class is held on the south side of the parking lot.
Times
- Basic Rider Classes: Thursdays & Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays, either morning (7:00 am – 12:30 pm) or afternoon (12:30 pm – 6:00 pm). Sign up for one session only.
- Basic Rider 2 Classes: Start on a Saturday or Sunday, running from 7:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Important Notes
- Check-in: Morning classes at 6:45 am. Afternoon classes at 12:15 pm.
- Equipment: Range instruction uses the program’s training motorcycles.
- Cancellation Policy: No refunds for cancellations.
Before Registering
Ensure you:
- Have access to a computer or smartphone.
- Can complete all course requirements.
- Are able to pay with a credit card online.
- Can provide a valid driver’s license number.
Registration Process
- Register Online: Use a computer or smartphone. No registrations are accepted at the college.
- Email Confirmation: After registering, you will receive an email confirmation within 24-48 hours.
- You will receive a link to the online course 30 days prior to your class start date.
