If you’re within 9 credit hours of completing your degree or certificate—including classes you're currently enrolled in—it's time to apply for graduation. Whether you're heading into a new career or transferring to a four-year school, this process ensures your hard work is officially recognized.

Graduation is more than a single day—it’s the completion of your academic journey and the beginning of what comes next. To make sure you’re fully prepared, Glen Oaks provides all the details you need in one place. Taking these steps ensures your records are complete and your celebration goes smoothly.

Steps to Apply for Graduation

1. Check Your Graduation Status

At the start of your final semester, review your program of study in your myGOCC account.
If you’re within 9 credits of completing (including current courses), you're eligible to apply.
Planning to finish in Spring or Summer? Be sure to apply in Winter semester (starting in January).

2. Submit the Application for Graduation

Log into your myGOCC account and go to the Graduation Overview section.
Complete the Application for Graduation form only once for each degree or certificate.
Applications must be submitted no later than Friday, February 13, 2026.

If you don’t meet the requirements the semester you apply, you’ll need to notify the Registration/Records Office at the start of the semester you intend to complete. This re-activates your application.

3. Wait for Confirmation

The Registrar will evaluate your credits to determine if you've met all program requirements. Note: see “Catalog Affecting Credits and Graduation”.
You’ll receive an email letting you know whether:
- You’ve qualified for graduation, or
- You still have courses or credits left to complete

Catalog Affecting Credits & Graduation:
Graduation requirements are based on the catalog active at the time you entered your program. Changes to course or credit requirements may apply depending on catalog year.

Earning a Second Degree or Certificate?

Thinking of adding a second credential? Here’s what you need to know:

For a Second Associate Degree:

Must be based on the catalog in effect at time of enrollment in the new program
Must be completed within 4 years
Requires at least 15 additional credit hours beyond your first degree, taken at Glen Oaks
Must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA in those additional credits
All additional credits must be planned and approved in writing through an adviser
Written approval must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office

For a Second Certificate:

Evaluated under the catalog in effect at the time you complete the certificate

NOTE: The plus size gown will comfortably fit a bust/waist/hip measurement of 72 inches. If you do not need this much width in the body of the gown but your weight is slightly higher than the ranges listed above, order the next taller gown (example: instead of 5’3-5’5, order 5’6-5’8).

Commencement Ceremony

Glen Oaks holds one graduation ceremony each year at the end of the Winter semester. All eligible graduates—Fall, Winter, and Summer—are invited to participate and celebrate their achievement.

Diplomas are mailed to students who satisfy all requirements.
