Before applying, follow these steps:
Step One: Meet with an Advisor
Your advisor will:
- Interpret your placement test scores
- Review your high school or college transcripts (if available)
- Explain how the nursing program works
- Help determine which prerequisite classes you need to complete
Step Two: Prepare for Dean Meeting
Before meeting with the Dean of Health & Natural Sciences, you must:
- Provide Glen Oaks with your most recent test scores
- Submit official college transcripts (if applicable) to the Registration Office for evaluation
- Schedule your appointment with the Dean by calling (269) 294-4333
Step Three: Orientation & Payment Plan
All students must:
- Complete New Student Orientation
- Be awarded financial aid or sign up for a payment plan before registering for classes
Admission Requirements & Prerequisites
To apply to either program track, you must:
- Be a high school graduate or GED holder
- Complete the following prerequisites with a 2.5 GPA or better:
- BIO 210: Human Anatomy & Physiology I
- ENG 121: English Composition I
- ALH 218: Medical Terminology
- Submit to a criminal background check as required by clinical sites
- Provide proof of required immunizations, including TB test, Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, Tetanus, and COVID-19 vaccine (with medical/religious waivers considered)
- Meet additional clinical agency requirements as needed
LPN to RN applicants must also:
- Hold an active, unrestricted LPN license
- Submit transcripts from approved practical nurse program (minimum 2.5 GPA required in PN coursework)
- Demonstrate recent work experience as an LPN
- One letter of recommendation from your supervisor

Accreditation & Licensure Information
Glen Oaks offers an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing degree approved by the Michigan Board of Nursing. Students are admitted through a selective process based on available seats. Graduates of this program are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN licensing exam in the state of Michigan, Indiana, and Maryland.
Note: Graduates intending to practice outside Michigan should review licensing requirements for that state via the appropriate Board of Nursing. Visit the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) for more information.
