Reverse Transfer: Get the Degree You Earned

Transferred before earning your associate degree? You might still qualify to receive it—at no extra cost.

If you began your degree at Glen Oaks and then transferred to a four-year college or university, you may be eligible to reverse transfer your earned credits back to GOCC and receive your associate degree. This is your opportunity to add a valuable credential to your resume—and increase your job opportunities—without taking another class.

Who is Eligible?

You may qualify for reverse transfer if you:

  • Completed at least 15 college-level credits at Glen Oaks that apply to your degree program
  • Transferred to an accredited four-year institution
  • Completed enough additional coursework to satisfy GOCC’s graduation requirements
  • Are in good academic standing

Why Reverse Transfer?

For Students & Parents:

  • Adds a completed degree to your transcript, which boosts transfer GPA and employability
  • Offers a “safety net” credential if your four-year journey changes course
  • No additional coursework or cost—just credit where it’s due

For Adult Learners & Working Professionals:

  • An associate degree can help you:
    • Get promoted
    • Qualify for better jobs
    • Return to school later with more confidence
  • Reclaim the work you’ve already completed—without restarting

How the Process Works

  • Complete the Reverse Transfer form at your current four-year institution.
  • Your institution will send your official transcript to GOCC.
  • GOCC’s Registration team will:
    • Confirm receipt via email
    • Review your transcript to determine if all associate degree requirements are met
    • Follow up if more information is needed
  • If eligible, your associate degree will be awarded and your diploma will be mailed.
  • You’ll be invited to participate in GOCC’s graduation ceremony or celebration photo opportunity.
