Title IX Advisors and Coordinator
Supporting a Safe, Respectful, and Inclusive Campus
Glen Oaks Community College is committed to maintaining a learning and working environment free from sex-based discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, and retaliation. Title IX ensures that all members of the campus community are treated with dignity, fairness, and respect.
If you have experienced or witnessed conduct that may fall under Title IX, help is available. You do not have to navigate this process alone.
What Is Title IX?
Title IX is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination based on sex in education programs and activities. At Glen Oaks Community College, Title IX applies to students, employees, and visitors and includes protections related to sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, pregnancy and parenting status, gender identity, and retaliation.

Title IX Advisors and Advocates
Individuals involved in a Title IX process—whether as a complainant or respondent—have the right to have an advisor or advocate present during grievance proceedings.
An advisor or advocate may be:
- Someone of the individual’s choosing, or
- A trained Glen Oaks employee provided by the College if needed
Title IX Advisors help participants understand the process, provide support during meetings or hearings, and ensure individuals are aware of their rights and options. Advisors do not make decisions or determine outcomes.
How Title IX Advisors Can Help
- Explain each step of the Title IX process
- Attend meetings or hearings for support
- Help individuals prepare questions or statements
- Provide clarity on policies and procedures
If you do not have an advisor, the College will ensure one is available to you.
