Is Glen Oaks right for you?
If you're a non-U.S. citizen planning to study in the U.S. on an F-1 visa, you must complete specific steps to be considered for admission. Glen Oaks issues Form I-20s to qualified applicants who meet all academic, financial, and documentation requirements.

- Apply online through Etrieve using the International Student Application.
- Attach required documents directly within the Etrieve application using the paperclip icon.
International Student Application
Required Documents
- Translated official secondary school transcripts (equivalent to U.S. high school diploma or higher)
- English proficiency scores: TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo accepted
- Bank statement showing $25,000 USD in available funds
- Copy of passport (photo page)
- Proof of U.S. address (lease, deed, or sponsor statement) if living off-campus
- Proof of international health insurance with repatriation clause
- Sponsor forms, if applicable (room/board or financial support)
- Optional: F-2 Dependent Form if bringing spouse or children
Living on Campus?
Select the on-campus housing option on your application. The Designated School Official (DSO) will contact you with next steps. Note: international housing is limited and not guaranteed until a contract is signed.
Application Process for F-1 Transfer Students
If you're currently studying in the U.S. on an F-1 visa and wish to transfer to Glen Oaks:
- Complete the International Student Application in Etrieve.
- Submit:
- Copy of your current I-20
- Bank statement for $25,000 USD
- Proof of housing, as above
- Request:
- Transfer Report Authorization Form (have your current school send it to international@glenoaks.edu
- Official transcripts for transfer credit evaluation

Important Deadlines
To ensure enough time for visa processing and housing arrangements, submit all documents by:
- Fall Semester (August start): July 1
- Winter Semester (January start): October 1
- Summer Semester (May start): March 1
F-1 Visa Deadline: Proof of visa must be submitted 10 days before the semester starts.
After You’re Accepted
If you're admitted, here's what happens next:
- You’ll receive a letter of acceptance and Form I-20 by email.
- Pay the I-901 SEVIS fee at FMJfee.com.
- Schedule your visa appointment at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
- Send a copy of your visa and passport to the DSO at least 10 days before your arrival.
You may enter the U.S. up to 30 days before the semester begins.
Arrival & Orientation
You must arrive in the U.S. at least 3 business days before classes begin.
All new F-1 students are required to attend International Student Orientation, where you’ll:
- Meet college staff and other students
- Learn about U.S. visa regulations
- Register for classes
- Get help navigating your new community
Maintaining Your F-1 Visa Status
To remain in good standing:
- Enroll in at least 12 credit hours per semester
- Notify the DSO within 10 days of any changes (address, program, etc.)
- Do not work unless authorized by USCIS
- See the DSO before traveling outside the U.S.
- Keep medical insurance current

FAQs
Q: What is the minimum English proficiency score required?
A: We accept TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo. Scores must demonstrate college-level proficiency.
Q: Can I work while studying?
A: F-1 students may only work with USCIS authorization. Unauthorized work may result
in loss of status.
Q: What if I need housing?
A: On-campus housing is available but limited. Choose the housing option during your
application and complete all follow-up steps promptly.
Q: What happens if I miss the deadline?
A: Contact the DSO at international@glenoaks.edu. Some transfer students may still be eligible.
