Make college affordable—on your schedule.

Glen Oaks Community College partners with Nelnet to provide flexible, interest-free payment options for managing tuition and fees. These plans are not loans, require no credit checks, and include no interest charges.

How It Works

After you register for classes, you’ll need to either pay in full or set up a Nelnet payment plan within 48 hours to secure your schedule.

There are two options:

  • Regular Monthly Payment Plan
  • Pending Aid Payment Plan (for students with completed financial aid awards on file)

If your financial aid is not finalized, you’ll need to use the regular monthly plan and make any required payments.

Payment Plan Costs & Fees (Effective Fall 2024)

  • Enrollment Fee: $30 per semester (non-refundable)
    • Regular Plan: Deducted immediately
    • Pending Aid Plan: Only deducted if plan becomes active
  • Returned Payment Fee: $30 per failed transaction (automatically deducted)
  • Credit/Debit Card Processing Fee: 2.85% for online payments (2.75% if paid at the GOCC Cashier’s Office)

There are no extra fees if you pay in full using a checking or savings account.

When Payments Are Made

  • Monthly Plan: Payments are auto-deducted on the 5th of each month
    • If missed, reattempted on the 20th, then again on the 5th of the next month
  • Pending Aid Plan: Payments auto-deducted on the 20th of each month

You can make additional payments at any time through your Nelnet account or at the GOCC Cashier’s Office.

Important: If you are on the Pending Aid plan and make a payment online, your plan becomes active—this triggers the $30 enrollment fee. To avoid this, make unscheduled payments directly to the Cashier’s Office.

How to Enroll in Nelnet

Signing up is easy and secure:

  • Use any device—phone, tablet, computer, or a campus lab
  • Full and down payments are taken immediately during enrollment
  • You can use checking/savings accounts or credit/debit cards (note service fees for card payments)

To get started, visit your Nelnet account through your GOCC portal or stop by the Cashier’s Office for help.

FAQs

Q: Is this a loan?
A: No. Nelnet payment plans are not loans. There is no interest and no credit check.

Q: What happens if I don’t enroll in time?
A: Your class schedule may be dropped if you do not pay or set up a plan within 48 hours of registering.

Q: Can I make extra payments?
A: Yes. Unscheduled payments lower your remaining balance. Use your Nelnet account or pay at the Cashier’s Office.

Q: What if I miss a payment?
A: Nelnet will try again on the 20th of the month. A $30 fee applies to each returned payment.

Q: Do I qualify for the Pending Aid plan?
A: Only if your financial aid award is complete and on file with GOCC. Otherwise, use the regular plan.
