Additional Information – Student Housing
A Supportive and Respectful Residential Experience
Living on campus at Glen Oaks Community College means more than just having a place to sleep—it’s about becoming part of a welcoming, respectful, and responsible community. Student Housing is designed to support your academic success, personal growth, and sense of belonging, all while offering a fun and safe environment.
By signing the Housing Agreement, you commit to following:
- All Housing rules and expectations
- The Glen Oaks Student Code of Conduct (found in the current GOCC Catalog)
- Local, state, and federal laws
You are also responsible for the conduct of your guests while they are on campus. Any violations may lead to disciplinary action, removal from housing, or payment of damages, as determined by College officials. Housing staff reserve the right to contact emergency contacts listed in your agreement when necessary.
Finals Week: 24-Hour Quiet Hours
To support student success during exam week, 24-hour quiet hours are enforced throughout finals week. In addition, all non-resident visitors are restricted between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. to maintain a focused study environment.
Financial Aid & Housing
If you plan to use financial aid to pay for housing, here’s what you need to know:
- You must have verified aid on file (grants, loans, scholarships, etc.) before housing payments are due.
- Tuition and housing charges are deducted from your aid before any remaining balance is refunded to you.
- Financial aid does not cover the $75 non-refundable housing application fee.
- Any unpaid balance not covered by aid must be paid according to the Nelnet payment schedule.
TIP: The financial aid process can take several weeks. Apply early and follow up often. If you have questions, contact Financial Aid.
Mandatory Housing Meetings
Housing staff will hold meetings throughout the year to share important updates, event information, and community guidelines. These may include:
- Building-wide meetings
- Floor or suite meetings
- Individual check-ins
- Orientation sessions
Attendance is required. If you miss a meeting, you must follow up with staff to review the information. Failure to attend or follow up may result in disciplinary action or fines.
