Placement Test Scores
Understand Your Scores and Start in the Right Class
At Glen Oaks Community College, we use Accuplacer, ACT, SAT, and ALEKS scores to help place students in the courses where they’ll succeed. The goal is to avoid enrolling in classes that are too basic, too advanced, or not needed for your goals.
Your scores determine whether you start in college-level math and English or if you’d benefit from additional support courses first.
Before registering, meet with a GOCC academic advisor to review your scores. Placement is about more than just numbers—your advisor can help you choose the best path forward and explore retesting or alternatives.
Retesting and Math Options
- You can retake any part of the Accuplacer test up to twice per semester
- If you're taking math, you may also take the ALEKS PPL test to determine the right
course level
