Celebrating First-Generation College Student Success

Alpha Alpha Alpha, also known as Tri-Alpha, is a national honor society first-generation college students—those who are the first in their families to pursue a college degree.

At Glen Oaks Community College, Tri-Alpha provides an empowering space for first-gen students to be honored for their hard work, build community, and inspire others to reach their educational goals.

What We Do

  • Meet once or twice each semester to set goals and plan activities
  • Host fundraising events to support inductions and future events
  • Celebrate student success through formal induction ceremonies
  • Provide a community where first-gen students can support each other

Who Can Join?

  • Students who have completed at least 30 credit hours at GOCC
  • Have a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA
  • Have parents or guardians who did not complete a four-year college degree
  • Supportive faculty and staff may also be invited to join as honorary members
