Accreditation at Glen Oaks Community College
Committed to Academic Excellence and Student Success
Glen Oaks Community College (GOCC) is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Accreditation ensures that GOCC meets high standards for educational quality, student support, ethical practices, and continuous improvement—so you can be confident in the value of your education.
In addition to institutional accreditation, several of our programs hold specialized, programmatic accreditations that reflect the highest standards in their fields.
What Is Accreditation and Why Does It Matter?
Accreditation is a rigorous, multi-year review process that holds colleges accountable to national standards of excellence. It helps students:
- Access federal financial aid
- Transfer credits more easily
- Ensure degrees are respected by employers and licensing boards
GOCC participates in the HLC’s Standard Pathway, a 10-year cycle that includes comprehensive reviews in Years 4 and 10. Our most recent campus visit took place in 2024 as part of our reaffirmation process.
